Boasting a luxuriant setting of precious stones, the Trilobe Une Folle Journée Diamant Platinum high jewellery edition has been crafted to stir the aesthetic senses. Distinctive for its innovational three dimensional dial aspect, which is inspired by the ceiling of the Paris Opera house, the watch exhibits the quintessential French flair for design which is a signature feature of this exciting independent watchmaking company, together with the sophistication of a proprietary mechanical mechanism.

The Trilobe Une Folle Journée Diamant Platinum is housed within a platinum case enhanced with mirror-polished and satin-brushed finishing techniques. Measuring 40.5mm diameter, it is topped with a pronounced domed sapphire crystal which rises up to a height of 10.2mm in order to accommodate the three dimensional aspect of the dial.

To create the shimmering spectacle of gem-set rotating rings, exceptional craftsmanship and significant modifications to the original dial architecture was required, including a custom-made diamond setting technique and the use of an alloy of aluminium, silicon and magnesium for the trio of rotating time indication rings.

In total, 150 individually selected baguette diamonds are placed so that they conform to the curvature of the rings with the hours at the periphery; the minutes at the centre, followed by the seconds on the inner of the dial. To enable reading of the time, all 12 numerals have been painted by hand upon the diamonds by a French miniaturist painter giving uniqueness to each and every model of Trilobe's Une Folle Journée Diamant Platinum. The end result of this painstaking attention to detail, and meticulous hand crafting is an exquisite illusion, with the rings appearing to float whimsically upon a complicated labyrinth of mechanical components, supported on nine tiny pillars. As they rotate using the fixed pointer reference, they enable an intuitive reading of the passage of time which is instantly mesmeric.

To complement the glimpse of the mechanisms on the dial side, a full disclosure of the proprietary Calibre X-Centric self-winding movement is appreciable through the rear sapphire crystal. Meticulously finished throughout, in-keeping with the design language of the watch, the calibre carries a contemporary aesthetic, with high-contrast polished edges and a grained decoration. Powered by a micro-rotor, the calibre has a power reserve of 48 hours, running at 28’800 vib/h.
